How To Take Care Of Acne Prone Skin

Acne can be a pain in the ass and you may never get a chance to get rid of them completely. The best you can do is to manage it.

Acne (pimples) is known scientifically as Acne Vulgaris. It is a skin condition that starts showing up during puberty and is triggered as a result of an infected sebaceous gland. This leads to blocked hair follicles. This blockage  then causes skin irritation which results in a swelling, "acne".

See the major ways to care for your acne prone skin;

  • Wash your skin gently with a mild soap or facial wash at least TWICE a day
  • Avoid scrubbing your acne prone areas to prevent irritation
  • Use an OIL FREE moisturizer for your acne prone areas
  • For ladies, ensure you avoid hair that covers your acne prone areas as your hair oil contributes to acne development
  • Wash your PILLOW CASE every week because you need to get rid of the hair oil that might have settled on it
  • Ensure you do not use harsh products on your skin. I would recommend a mild facial wash or soap and those made preferably from mild natural ingredients.
  • Do not throb your pimples
  • Avoid oily and fatty foods, ensure you eat lots of fruits and vegetables
  • Reduce or avoid eating peanuts and butter
  • Try cooking with healthy oils such as olive oil, sunflower oil.
  • Do not use skin lightening or toning chemicals on your acne.
  • Drink lots of water to flush out impurities
  • Exercise regularly.
